Northern Beaches Council has adopted its Better Together Social Sustainability Strategy 2040, a roadmap for change which ensures the Northern Beaches remains an inclusive and resilient community.

Mayor Michael Regan said the Strategy provides an overarching framework for achieving a positive social impact in partnership with the community.

"By tracking our progress against targets in the Strategy, we can ensure our commitment to working with the community to build capacity and resilience and achieve a socially sustainable and inclusive community for all.

"With this strategy, Council and the community can work together to maximise the quality and effectiveness of community development services that respond to community needs.

“With the input of over a thousand people, Better Together is based on Council’s community engagement activities and feedback on the discussion paper from stakeholder groups and individuals.”

Mayor Michael Regan said the community’s social sustainability was as important as its economic health, because it supports individual and collective wellbeing of a community.

“The difference between a place to live and a thriving, wholesome community is the sum of its people and its circumstances,” Mayor Regan said.

“Better Together aims to build on the existing resources, skills and human services in our community. It will make sure we work together to create a stronger, more resilient, equitable and socially sustainable Northern Beaches.”
