Northern Beaches Council is inviting feedback on its draft Seaforth Oval Reserve Plan of Management (PoM) which aims to improve sport and recreation opportunities at the Reserve.

The Reserve, located on Council managed Crown land sitting adjacent to Garigal National Park, has a long sport and recreation history with football, cricket, little athletics, school sport and other sports undertaken here for many years, along with a myriad community activities.

The Reserve includes a sportsground fringed by bushland and facilities including the Seaforth Oval Community and Sporting Pavilion, lit sports fields, playground, natural and synthetic turf cricket wickets, cricket nets, ½ basketball court and a dog off-leash area as well as carparking and internal roads. The Plan of Management proposes a new bike park for intermediate and advanced riders to fill a gap for this type of facility in this part of the Northern Beaches.

Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said the draft PoM outlines a vision with proposed actions to meet current and future community needs.

“The Reserve is highly valued by the community as a place for sport, recreation and community activities.

“To understand the community’s views and needs Council undertook a consultation process in 2023. Recommendations included improvements to the sports and park facilities, carparking and internal roads, improved bushland management and a new intermediate to advanced level bike park.

“I strongly encourage you all to have your say on the draft PoM for the Reserve through our Your Say page,” Mayor Heins said.

The proposed actions are subject to confirmation of funding and obtaining all required environmental, planning or other approvals.
