The call is out for locals to have their say on the draft Delivery Program which sets out how Council’s projects and services will be delivered between now and 2021, turning the community’s vision for the Northern Beaches into reality.

Mayor Michael Regan said the draft program focuses on supporting and improving the services and facilities that make the Northern Beaches such an amazing place to live.

“The draft Delivery Program has been informed by extensive consultation with locals to deliver on the priorities that are important to them.

“The resources and capacity of our merged Council puts us in a strong position to deliver significant benefits to the community.

“The draft Delivery Program also includes the 2018/2019 Budget. The State Government has already announced a freeze on the rates path until 2020 for amalgamated councils. What we have is an annual increase for inflation of 2.3% on our rates that is consistent with all councils across NSW. Quite simply, this will only cover the increase in costs to Council in delivering existing services.” Mayor Regan said.

The draft Delivery Program reflects the delivery of transformational projects across the areas of Sustainable Precincts, Supporting Business and Creating Vibrant Centres, Connected Transport, Arts and Cultural Improvements, Recreation Improvements and Sustainable Environment.

Over the next three years $26.4 million has been earmarked for transport projects, $35.7 million for recreation improvements, and $21.34 million for upgrading town and village centres. Arts and culture projects worth around $13.9 million are also proposed as well as continuing works to bring the Frenchs Forest and Ingleside precincts to life.

The draft Delivery Program will be taken on a ‘Roadshow’ tour across the Northern Beaches to give the community a chance to ask questions and provide feedback in person. It is also open for comment on northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au until Sunday 27 May.

“I strongly encourage everyone to provide feedback or come along to one of five roadshows to ensure their voices continue to be heard,” Mayor Regan said.
