Manly Corso will be the subject of a spring clean offensive as a 50-strong contingent of Council’s cleaning, landscaping and painting staff move in over three days in November.

Affectionately called the Special Works and Transformation Team, or SWAT Team, the group will attack a range of tasks to get Manly in top condition for summer.

Mayor Michael Regan said the initiative was a trial and if successful similar blitzes would be rolled out at a number of villages and town centres across the Northern Beaches.

“We have had a bit of fun with this by calling it a SWAT Team but actually our aim is to get in and do the serious business of getting Manly Corso in top shape for summer.

"While it’s true our crews are there on the Corso doing great work every day, this is an opportunity to get them all together in a three day blitz to knock off all those little jobs that can really make a difference, in one go.

“With millions of visitors heading to Manly over the next few months, as well as locals enjoying all Manly has to offer, this is a great time to get this important work done.”

The SWAT will strike the Corso on 27, 28 and 29 November attacking bins, benches, paving, railings and turf across the town centre.

The SWAT Team will be distinguishable in hi-vis vests operating on the Corso between 7am and 3pm.
