Council’s Community Grants program for 2020/21 has been revamped to make sure local organisations, groups and creatives have the best chance of securing funds and delivering projects after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The deadline date for applications has been extended to 30 June 2020, with projects funded in the 2020/21 program to have extended delivery dates - between October 2020 and 31 December 2021.

Council is allocating a total of $240,000 to Community Development and Arts & Creativity Grants including $50,000 under the Environmental Grants stream, which includes the Eco-Schools Grants program.

The Grants offer up to $10,000 to eligible individuals, groups and organisations to undertake projects or activities.

Council have asked applicants to consider other ways they could deliver their projects other than the traditional face-to-face method.

“We have many amazing organisations and individuals in our community who share Council’s vision of ‘a safe, inclusive and connected community that lives in balance with our extraordinary coastal and bushland environment’ and this year’s 2020 - 2021 Community Grants program will help deliver some remarkable projects,” Mayor Michael Regan said.

“Each Community Grant stream has its own unique objectives and priorities, but the overall aim of the program is to support local individuals, groups and organisations work to create a more enriched, connected and sustainable Northern Beaches community. A small subsidy can make a real difference to individuals and community-based organisations.”

Renate Rienmueller, from La Crème Creative, was a previous recipient of the Community, Arts & Culture Grants program in 2019/20.

“Our Artist Residency program, made possible by Council’s Grants program, has provided an incredible opportunity to 12 artists who might not otherwise have had the chance to work in such a supportive creative community,’’ she said.

“This project also builds community spirit while supporting those community members who may be disadvantaged.”

Applications close on Tuesday 30 June.
