The iconic Cole Classic from Shelly Beach to Manly was swum by over 3000 entrants on Sunday morning, with some late changes to the route due to ocean conditions.

The Cole ocean swim followed the Sun Run on Saturday, which featured more than 4300 participants in three events from Dee Why to Manly.

Mayor Michael Regan said it was an exciting weekend of activity on Sydney’s Northern Beaches which raised around $150,000 for charity.

“Congratulations to all winners but also to the thousands of participants who just got out and enjoyed the events with family and friends across the two days,’’ the Mayor said.

Manly Life Saving Club president Chris Bell, hosting the event in partnership with Council for the first time, thanked all those involved.

“These kind of events can’t happen without the support of our many club volunteers, ambassadors and supporters. A huge thanks to everyone for helping us deliver this iconic event for the community,’’ Mr Bell said.

“And a special shout out to our ambassadors, 2019 NSW Youth Athlete of the Year Naomi Scott and Manly LSC ironman champion Kendrick Louis, who also crossed first in the 1km swim on Sunday morning.”
