The Northern Beaches is even more beautiful on the inside than it is on the outside, if the spirit of our local volunteers is anything to go by.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said with International Volunteer Day coming up on Tuesday 5 December, the perfect way to recognise the contribution of our local volunteers was to nominate them for an Australia Day Award.

“We are very fortunate to have a wonderful mixed demographic of locals who contribute their time and efforts to make our community an even better place.”

“These hardworking and dedicated volunteers wouldn’t even think they were deserving of an accolade like an Australia Day Award, they are too busy helping others,” Mayor Regan said.

Council works with an amazing team of volunteers across a number of areas including bushcare and environment projects, Meals on Wheels, special events, art exhibitions, libraries and more.

There are also many other wonderful community volunteer groups that contribute so much to our community and there are always opportunities for more people to get involved.

If you’d like to celebrate the contribution of a local volunteer, Australia Day Award nominations have been extended until Monday 4 December. Visit northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au and search ‘Australia Day awards’.
