Voting is now underway for the Northern Beaches Local Business Awards run by Precedent Production and residents are encouraged to vote for businesses across a range of categories.

Northern Beaches Council is proud to sponsor the Disability Inclusion and Sustainability categories as part of the annual awards.  Applications are now open for businesses to put themselves forward, or be nominated by their customers, for these two categories.

Northern Beaches Council Interim CEO Louise Kerr encouraged residents to cast their vote for their favourite business and support the valuable service they offer to the community.

“What better way to thank a local business than to nominate them in this year’s business awards. We particularly want to recognise those businesses that continue to be inclusive and welcoming to all in the community, regardless of their ability,” Ms Kerr said.

“With one in five Australians with some form of disability, making your premises accessible is not only good for business but good for the community.

“Businesses demonstrating sustainable practices from energy efficiency, waste reduction or cleaning up supply chains should also be recognised and awarded for these virtuous efforts.”

Last year’s Sustainability Award Winner was local brewery 4 Pines. Sarah Turner, Environmental & Social Impact Advisor at 4 Pines said the local business was on a “continuous journey to brew better”.

“We are grateful for the continued support from both Northern Beaches locals and Northern Beaches Council,” Ms Turner said.

“This award recognised the hard work of our team to reduce our footprint and impact on the planet. I encourage businesses that are doing good to apply.

“There are numerous benefits which include acknowledgement for the collective energy and effort of your team, demonstrating leadership, gaining recognition within the local Northern Beaches community and celebrating success with your team and locals alike.”

To be eligible for the Sustainability and Disability Inclusion Awards, businesses must operate within the Northern Beaches local government area and meet the awards’ eligibility criteria.

Winners will be announced at the Northern Beaches Local Business Awards Presentation Evening on 11 July 2023 at Dee Why RSL.

Applications for the Sustainability and Disability Inclusion Awards close on 16 May 2023.
