Grab a bargain at the Avalon Car Boot Sale on Saturday 22 October and help reduce landfill.

A Northern Beaches Council initiative, the sale aims to help the community reuse, repair and recycle.

"Northern Beaches residents are passionate about their environment, and recycling and upcycling old items is something they love to do," said Emma Mackay, Waste Education Officer at Northern Beaches Council.

"The Avalon Car Boot Sale is popular with both sellers and buyers, with some really unique pieces likely to be up for grabs.

"There are usually lots of collectibles on offer, vintage clothing, children's toys and clothes and plenty of sporting gear," Ms Mackay added.

If you buy an item that needs some mending, you can also drop into the Make Do Mend meetup in the Avalon Recreation Centre, running at the same time as the Sale.

Avalon Boomerang Bags volunteers will be on hand to give advice, and sewing machines will be available for you to try out your upcycling skills on your new finds.

Seller sites are already booked out for the sale, so visitors are guaranteed a huge array of goodies!

With live music, free face painting for the kids, fresh coffee and a sausage sizzle, this is a great family day out.

The Avalon Car Boot Sale is part of Northern Beaches Council's ongoing commitment to the Waste Less Recycle More initiative, funded by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).
