Northern Beaches Council has finalised the renewal of one of the community's most cherished waterfront destinations - Paradise Beach Tidal Pool and Wharf.

This 1940’s heritage listed site had almost been loved to disrepair and would submerge during large tides before a recent renewal program rebuilt the whole structure half a metre higher and added new tidal stairs, safety netting and an access ladder.

Additionally, the original heritage groyne (rock barrier) that helps protect the structure from erosion has been upgraded with a new widened concrete capping, maintaining its historical significance while improving its functionality.

Community feedback played a crucial role in shaping this project to ensure the original heritage listed footprint was maintained, the sensitive environment was protected and everyone still got to use the pool in summer while the final pieces of the project were completed.

Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said, "The renewal of the Paradise Beach Tidal Pool and Wharf is a testament to our commitment to preserving and enhancing our beautiful waterfront areas. This project not only improves safety and accessibility but also respects the historical and environmental significance of the site. We are grateful for the community's input and support throughout this process."

Mayor Heins added, "We invite everyone to come and explore the renewed facilities at Paradise Beach. Whether you're swimming in the tidal pool, enjoying the views from the modernised wharf, or simply relaxing by the water, there's something for everyone to enjoy."

The design phase of this project was partially funded by a $27,540 TfNSW Boating Now grant, with Council funding all building works. For more information about the project please visit the Northern Beaches Council Your Say page
