Registrations are now open to the Beaches Young Filmmakers Comp hosted by Northern Beaches Council. Now in its 21st year, the Beaches Young Filmmakers Comp (formerly known as 24/7), has established itself as an innovative introduction for many young people on the Northern Beaches interested in filmmaking.

To enter the comp, individuals or teams create a short film of up to 7 minutes long which must include secret inclusions - a mystery item, keyword and phrase. The details of the secret inclusions will be released on Council’s website at 5pm on Wednesday 27 August. The filmmakers then have four days to create their work and submit by 10pm on Sunday 31 August 2025.

Participants compete for a prize pool totalling of $3000 plus industry prizes along with the prestige of seeing their films screened at the Finals and Awards night on Thursday 18 September at HOYTS Warringah Mall, together with their family, friends and public who are all invited.

Teams consist of 1 – 12 members, aged between 12 - 24 years with a minimum of one person who lives, works or is educated on the Northern Beaches.

Council sincerely thanks the premium sponsor and long-time supporter, now for the 13th year, Miller Tripods. A huge thanks to Screenwise and Canon for also being premium sponsors.

Further thanks go to Australian Cinematography Society for their generous sponsorship of this year's competition.

Finalists’ films will be showcased on Council’s website following the Finals and Awards Night.

Prize money is funded through entry fees, final night ticket sales and sponsorship.
