Council has been honoured with four awards in this year’s prestigious annual Communicator Awards held in New York, USA.

The Communicator Awards are an international awards program honouring creative excellence for marketing and communications professionals.

The annual competition honours the best in digital, video, podcasts, marketing, mobile, and print and received more than 5000 entries this year.

We received the competitions highest honour, the Award for Excellence alongside Forbes, The Walt Disney Company Europe and Africa, Pepsico for two projects:

Category:       Individual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for online video

Project:          Harmony Week video

Harmony Week is all about celebrating the beauty of diversity – this video was created to celebrate all the incredible cultural communities and spaces we have on the Northern Beaches. From the beautiful frescos of St Sava and the magnificent Baha’i Temple in Ingleside to our growing Tibetan community. The video was created with local videographer Lachlan Peknice. A big thanks to the local community members featured for giving up their time and opening their cultural spaces to us.

Category:       Individual Public Service for online video

Project:          Rates Harmonisation video

This video was produced to communicate the complex idea of rates harmonisation, a requirement of the NSW Government for amalgamated Councils to pay the same rates for the same land value across the Council area, rather than three different rating structures. Thanks to QC.Video for working with us on this project.

We also received an Award of Distinction for:

Category: Design Features/Overall Design for Print Advertising

Project: Glen St Theatre

The brief was to design something that reflected the theatre itself and helped them stand out amongst the competition. Each item was designed with the audience in mind and included designing posters, newspaper adverts, flags and banners.

Category: Individual causes and awareness online video

Project: Explainer Narrabeen Lagoon Management video

Managing the entrance to Narrabeen Lagoon for flood risk is a complex science and this video was produced as an explainer so residents can understand Council’s approach. Thanks to the crew at Form Productions for working with us on this challenging project.

The Communications Awards are judged and curated by the academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA).
