Australia has more than 14 million volunteers, who dedicate 3.2 billion hours to helping others1. On the Northern Beaches, we’re in awe at all the people who give up their time to support the incredible community groups, charities and services in our area.
At Council alone, we have over 900 volunteers who work in 13 different services from delivering library books to regenerating bushland to beautifying cemetery gardens to assisting visitors explore our area and so much more. We couldn’t do it without you!
Volunteering takes generosity, patience and a genuine willingness to help – we see those qualities every day in the people who choose to give up their time and lend a hand. Thank you for everything you do – you make the Northern Beaches community even greater.
Volunteering has been shown to increase life satisfaction, improve wellbeing and reduce stress2.
Some of our volunteers have told us:
“I feel more included and a part of the local community. I would consider everyone here a big part of my life.” – Curl Curl Community Gardens volunteer
“It’s a pleasure to assist the community and meet new people. I always have fun and have created fond friendships with like-minded people.” – Manly Visitor Information Centre volunteer
There are volunteer roles available both at Council and across community organisations on the Northern Beaches. Have a look on our website for current roles and apply for something that suits you!
