Anne Sargeant represented Australia in netball for 11 years from 1978 to 1988.  During this time, Anne was part of 3 world championship triumphs, coming first place in 1979 and 1983, and second in 1987. Anne was national captain for 6 years from 1983 to 1988.

After retiring from playing at an elite level, Anne continued to be involved in netball. She runs clinics to develop young players, continued coaching local teams and commentated at various Netball World Cup tournaments. 

Anne has received many awards for her contributions to netball and sports, including:

• 1988 Medal of the Order of Australia
• 2000 Australian Sports Medal
• 2004 inducted to the Netball NSW Hall of Fame 
• 2015 inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame Legend
