Every year since 1945, the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has bought children and books together during Book Week, a time to celebrate Australian children's authors and illustrators.

While things may be different this year, we still want to celebrate and hope you can join us!

Ways you can celebrate Book Week at your local library

Tick off a Book Week checklist

Pick up a Book Week checklist from your local library to keep track of which shortlisted books you have read.

Borrow one of the shortlisted stories

Read as many of the shortlisted stories you can so you can try and guess the Book of the Year!

Have your own Book Week Story Time with Story Box Library

While we can't hold a special Book Week Story Time, Story Box Library has you covered.

You will find a small collection of the shortlisted stories that you can watch and read along to.

Have fun with some activities

Story Box Library also has a bunch of activities you can access for free, that have been designed around the 2020 Book Week theme, 'Curious creatures and wild minds'.

Using the instructions and templates provided, you can write a letter to a curious creature, solve a curious message, discover what it’s like to be a CBCA judge or take part in a digital escape room, where you can piece together information using clues based on the shortlisted titles to find a missing creature!

You will find all these activities when you select a title from the Book Week playlist.
