This small to medium sized rainforest tree grows to 8m tall. The bark is flaky and the leaves are shiny, dark-green above and paler underneath. The deep magenta fruits, which may be spherical or egg-shaped, mature in May, and contain a single seed. 

It is listed as Endangered in New South Wales and Vulnerable nationally.
