The Stuart Somerville Bridge is about to get a bit of TLC with crucial repair works to keep this iconic structure safe, sturdy and ready for all the daily comings and goings of the community.

Starting in November and running into late December 2025 - weather permitting, of course - the works will tackle some surface damage that’s cropped up on the bridge’s concrete columns and steel reinforcements, especially down where the tides meet the Queenscliff Lagoon.

To make room for all this action, a temporary work compound will pop up on the grassy area next to the amenities building on Bridge Road - right opposite Queenscliff Surf Life Saving Club. Unfortunately, this means two parking spots will be out of action for a bit.

Council’s doing its best to keep things as smooth as possible and will maintain pedestrian access on and beneath the bridge, so everyone can keep on moving.
