Council is delighted to announce the renaming of the Old Reub Hudson Oval to Panucci Field at John Fisher Park, North Curl Curl.

Renaming the oval to Panucci Field is a fitting tribute to Francesco Panucci's significant contributions to the Northern Beaches community.

Francesco Panucci bought land in the 1940s on which this field is located, to establish a market garden producing vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruits and raised small livestock.

Council acquired the land in the 1970 and later the land became part of the Reub Hudson Sporting Complex at John Fisher Park.

Following World War II, Francesco sponsored many families from southern Italy, providing them with accommodation, food, friendship and support. He was instrumental in helping new immigrants integrate into the Australian way of life.

An official naming ceremony was held at the location with family members in attendance on 22 July 2025.

Panucci Field, formerly Old Reub Hudson Oval, is not to be confused with the adjoining Reub Hudson Oval which stays unchanged.
