Northern Beaches Council is proposing new membership fees for the Wellness Centre at the recently renovated Manly Andrew 'Boy' Charlton (MABC) Aquatic Centre which would see the original cost slashed by more than half.

"Northern Beaches Council has taken on board feedback from the community and wants to make sure this new facility is more accessible," said Dick Persson AM, Northern Beaches Council Administrator.

The original fees were adopted and a trial introductory offer was in place until 31 January with the intent to review at this time.

The proposed reduction is designed to provide competitive membership pricing. Current members will receive a refund of the difference between what they have paid and the proposed 12 month annual membership fee which is $1248.

"Promoting health and wellness is important in our community and we want to offer the best value possible," said Mr Persson.

Members at the Manly Andrew 'Boy' Charlton Wellness Centre have access to all the centre's aquatic services as well as a full fitness centre, group training, aquatic classes, personal trainers and relaxation facilities.

"The Wellness Centre is the only one on the Northern Beaches that also offers members an outdoor 50 and 25 metre swimming pool as well as an indoor 25 metre pool," Mr Persson added.

MABC Aquatic Centre also includes a Program Pool which can be used for hydrotherapy, children's splash pool, swim school, crèche, onsite café and relaxation facilities including a spa, sauna and steam room.

The revised Wellness Centre membership fees for 2016/2017 go on public exhibition for the next 28 days before the results are reported back to Council in early November.
