Over 6000 people registered to take part in the annual Sun Run pounding the pavements from Dee Why to Manly on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Event organisers named 2023 the third highest in the event’s history.

The fun run saw participants compete in either the 10km or 7km course taking in the picturesque views of Curl Curl, Freshwater and Queenscliff beaches along the way.

Winners of the 10km course proved fleet footed, crossing the finish line in just over 35 minutes while winners coasted the 7km course in under 25 minutes.

Mayor Michael Regan congratulated the winners and praised all the participants who came out on such a fine morning breaking further records by raising over $95,000 for charities across NSW.

“The smiles on the faces of the people running and those cheering them on was amazing,” Mayor Regan said.

“It was tremendous to see so many people enjoying themselves on one of the most picturesque running routes in the country.

So many of us on the Northern Beaches love our healthy and active lifestyle. It's one of the many things that makes living here so great.

“This event has been a mainstay in the annual event’s calendar and not only does it get more traction every year, it brings a positive vibe to our streets,” Mayor Regan said.

This year Sun Run continued to support local businesses while raising much needed funds for charities: including Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT, Run DIPG (childhood cancer) and the Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter.
