Beachgoers can look forward to upgrades at the southern end of Collaroy Beach which will complement the existing playground, enhance the popular recreational area and improve this section of the iconic Northern Beaches Coastal Walkway.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the makeover formed part of Council’s Collaroy Precinct Masterplan and would make the area near Collaroy Rockpool more accessible for all visitors.

“These upgrades will finalise works on the southern end of Collaroy Beach and make the whole space, including the playground and public art components, welcoming and accessible for all.

“It’s a priority for us to improve our existing recreational facilities and make them more inclusive.

“This project complements other recent improvements to Collaroy Beach including the recently installed adult changing facilities at the Surf Life Saving Club,” Mayor Regan said.

Works include:
- A new amenities building constructed within the existing rock face alongside Collaroy Rockpool which will house two fully accessible toilets and a storage room for pool maintenance
- A ramp which will lead from Beach Road to a viewing platform on the roof of the new amenities structure
- A pathway that continues through the lawn area and connects with the existing pathway adjacent to the children’s play area
- The installation of bollard, pole and wall lighting to illuminate the new walkways
- A 1.5m wide footpath at the northern end of Beach Road with new kerb and guttering

Council is collaborating with the SARGOOD Foundation on this project. SARGOOD has been part of the design process and is contributing some funds towards these works.

Construction is due to start on Monday 29 January and scheduled for completion midyear, weather permitting. Access to the pool and playground will be maintained during works.
