Applications are now open for early-practice curators to produce a funded exhibition and/or series of public events at Curl Curl Creative Space with mentorship from the curators at Manly Art Gallery & Museum.

Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said the inaugural Emerging Curator Program in 2023 was so successful, she can’t wait to see the outcome of this year’s program.

“Curators play a vital role in shaping the cultural landscape, and this program is designed to support their careers.

“If you are an emerging curator or artist looking to develop your practice, gain knowledge of the arts sector, and grow your professional networks, we encourage you to apply for the 2024 program.

“Whether you have a specific theme, innovative concept, or a fresh perspective to share, this program will help you turn your vision into a reality,” Mayor Heins said.

The 2023 recipient Jodi Dowd said the program was invaluable.

"This program, and the connections I’ve made, have enabled me to advance my collaboration skills with fellow curators, community members, and creatives, while also learning practical skills with the team at MAG&M,” Ms Dowd said.

Key opportunities:
•    $4,350 towards a curator’s fee and project funding
•    mentorship with MAG&M curators
•    develop and showcase a unique curatorial approach
•    build networks in the arts community.
