Lovely to see dogs living their best lives on Mona Vale Beach (south) this week as the 12-month off-leash dog trial kicked off.
The trial, at restricted times morning and evening, will give Council and the community the opportunity to see how it operates and if it can work as a shared space in the long term.
I encourage all dog owners to ensure they comply with the restrictions clearly displayed on the local signage and ensure they pick up after their pooches.
It was a pleasure to join family and friends at Little Manly Point to celebrate the incredible contribution David Hay made to our community over many decades. A new memorial, unveiled yesterday, stands as a tribute to his dedication and so fitting to have it at this location due to the role he played in the revitalisation of the gas works.
This week, after more than 2 years of consultation and site investigations the development application for a new Manly Life Saving Club and amenities is live. The proposal will serve the next generation of lifeguards and volunteers and enhance the safety of the 3.5 million people who use Manly Beach each year. You can learn more, view the artists' impressions and make a submission by 17 November.
Good luck to all those students (and parents and carers) starting HSC this week. With only a month now until it's all done, don't forget our libraries are here to support you through it with exclusive access to longer hours, snacks and even a pizza or two.
Finally, One Meal Northern Beaches have launched their Christmas hamper appeal with a goal to deliver 5000 hampers. You can register to drop off a hamper or donate.
Have a great weekend,
Mayor Sue Heins
