A new drainage system might not sound exciting, but when the works are finished at St Matthews Farm Reserve it will mean better fields and more play time to support the growing demand for sportsfields - now that is exciting.
This drainage project is more than a few pipes in the ground, it’s an intricate system that will support healthier grass, sturdier playing surfaces and way more opportunities for local sports clubs, schools and social groups to use the fields.
Better drainage also means healthier grass and a safer surface, so you can play your best without worrying about muddy patches or slippery surfaces.
So whether you're into soccer, footy or just enjoying a game with friends, you'll have a safer, top-quality spot to play in the rain or shine by next Winter.
This project is part of Northern Beaches Council’s ongoing Sportsground Strategy and approximately $148,000 is being invested to make it happen. The funding has been provided equally by Council and a New South Wales Government’s Community Building Partnership program grant.
There are similar improvements already completed or underway at places like Harbord Park field 1, Allambie Oval and Aquatic Reserve. For more details about St Matthews Farm Reserve and other local sportsfields, check out the Sportsfield page on the Council’s website.
