Whether you’re a local looking for a greener commute or a visitor eager to explore, shared pathways and improved crossings as part of the Frenchs Forest Active Transport Network will make getting around easier, healthier and way more fun for everyone.
One of the highlights of the project is a shared-user path, 2.5 to 3 metres wide, stretching along Blackbutts Road and Kambora Avenue all the way from Lionel Watts Reserve to Prahran Avenue. This means better access to favourite destinations like Glen Street Theatre, the library, Glenrose Village, Frenchs Forest Showground and Lionel Watts Reserve.
School runs will also get a boost, with safer walking and bike riding links to Mimosa Public School, Davidson High School and Wakehurst Public School.
With the new pathway connections, Council is supporting healthier, more active lifestyles and making sustainable choices more convenient. The project is all about helping people leave the car at home, reducing traffic and cutting emissions, while making neighbourhoods more vibrant and connected for people of all ages and abilities.
This initiative is a team effort, with grant funding from the NSW Government supporting Council’s vision for a safer and greener future in Frenchs Forest and beyond.
As part of the works, some exotic trees will be removed, but the good news is that they’ll be replaced and even more locally native trees will be planted to boost the local ecosystem and increase the leafy canopy across the area.
The works start in September and if the weather stays on our side, it will be completed before the end of December. If you’re keen to keep up with traffic impacts and project milestones, check out the Northern Beaches Council Your Say page.
