With warmer days on the horizon, Council lifeguards are heading back to the sand at Freshwater Beach this Saturday.

Don’t fret if you're not nearby though, as Manly and Dee Why beaches are patrolled all year giving beachgoers more opportunities to enjoy the coast safely at the start of spring.

Flags at the remaining patrolled beaches will return at the end of September, marking the start of another beach season on the Northern Beaches.

While the Council lifeguards and volunteer lifesavers are always ready to jump into action in an emergency, please remember to swim between the flags, listen to lifeguard advice, and help make this season a safe and unforgettably fun one.

With over 14 million visits to our beautiful beaches every year, the Northern Beaches are at the heart of Sydney’s outdoor lifestyle. Last season alone, Council lifeguards carried out 960 rescues, provided first aid to 4,017 people and carried out 530,618 preventative actions.
