Electric vehicle (EV) ownership is surging across the Northern Beaches, with new registrations rising sharply over the past year as more residents make the switch.
Over the past 12 months, nearly 3,000 new battery and plug‑in hybrid EVs were registered locally, marking a 68% increase in demand since last year mirroring a broader trend across NSW.
Ongoing fuel supply pressures have pushed petrol and diesel prices higher, prompting many households to seek alternatives that offer greater price stability and lower running costs.
EVs are typically cheaper to run than petrol vehicles as they have lower fuel and maintenance costs and more predictable energy costs.
Combined with a wider range of models, government incentives and expanding charging infrastructure, it’s no wonder they are becoming increasingly popular.
