Taking a dip in the Mona Vale and Whale Beach rockpools has been a tradition for over 100 years, and Council’s planned essential works will ensure it continues.

The planned works include repairing cracks, replacing pool access stairs and handrails, improving access, replacing sections of coping, rebuilding scuppers and general repairs. These improvements will help maintain the pools’ structural integrity, water quality and ensure the ongoing safety and comfort of all users.

The works at Mona Vale and Whale Beach rockpools are part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing important community facilities so they can continue to be enjoyed by future generations.

To ensure people can take a dip this summer the pools will need to be closed while the repair work is carried out from September to November 2025, weather permitting.

The Northern Beaches is home to 15 ocean rockpools, many of which have provided safe swimming for locals and visitors for up to a century. With exposure to challenging coastal conditions, regular investment and upkeep are crucial to keeping them in top condition.
