From local clubs and arts groups to environmental champions and not-for-profits, over 70 deserving initiatives are getting a much-needed boost this year as part of the annual grants program.

This program is all about helping local groups and small businesses grow, supporting the environment, and giving organisations and individuals the tools they need to make a real difference in our community. These grants are making it possible for locals to drive meaningful change where it matters most and help build a happier, healthier, more connected Northern Beaches.

Here’s a quick look at where the support is going:

  • Community Development Grants: $120,000 spread across 24 different projects that support our most vulnerable neighbours. Think programs to help reduce loneliness, boost beach safety for people with disabilities, support those facing mental health challenges, help survivors of domestic violence, and celebrate our multicultural communities through language and culture initiatives.
  • Arts and Creativity Grants: 21 applicants will share almost $103,000 to bring arts workshops, community events, a writer’s festival and even a new music pilot program to life. Plus, these funds help launch the careers of up-and-coming artists, musicians and creatives across the Beaches.
  • Sports and Recreation Infrastructure Grants: 7 local projects are set to get upgrades thanks to $100,000 in grants - imagine new golf practice bays, a shiny electronic scoreboard, refreshed clubhouse canteens, accessible restrooms, better changerooms and more shaded areas for everyone to enjoy.
  • Environmental Grants: $50,000 has been split up to back 11 groups working on some great green ideas. From installing nesting hollows for Powerful Owls to running hands-on toy reuse programs, regenerating our bushland and planting upcycled native gardens, these projects keep our natural spaces thriving.
  • Placemaking Grants: With $20,000 in funding, 7 new and refreshed activities are set to liven up our local centres. Get ready for bustling markets (including Christmas ones), shopfront art, lively street festivals, networking events and live music to bring us all together.

Every grant application was put through its paces by expert panels made up of both Council staff and outside assessors, so you know the support is going where it’ll have the biggest impact. Curious to learn more or see the full list of grant recipients? Check out the Council website
