The Northern Beaches boasts the highest AFL participation of in all of Sydney and now thanks to $61,000 in grants from AFL NSW, two local clubs with the support of Council are set to benefit from upgraded amenities and enhanced playing fields.

Head of AFL NSW/ACT Andrew Varasdi handed Council and the Pittwater Tigers a $50,000 cheque to fund a revamp of the North Narrabeen Reserve fields, transforming an underutilised space into a vibrant junior Auskick field.

This is a game-changer for the young Tigers, who will now have a dedicated area to hone their skills and ignite their passion for the game. Additionally, the grant will fund upgrades to the existing amenities, for both players and spectators.

Meanwhile, the Manly Warringah Wolves are howling with delight after receiving an $11,000 grant to facilitate the strategic relocation of goal posts at Frank Gray Oval, creating a second open-age field. This clever move adds an extra 10 playing hours each week, giving the Wolves more opportunities to dominate the field. The upgrade will be further bolstered by Council’s new female amenities building scheduled for completion in September.

These types of joint endeavours improve and support the growth and development of local sports clubs while also providing the whole community with more opportunities to connect and improve their health and wellbeing.
