Are you the next Australian Poetry Slam Champion? 

This June, join us at Manly Library as we host Word Travels for the Northern Beaches heat of the 2025 Australian Poetry Slam.

Saturday 28 June, 4.30 - 6pm at Manly Library. 

Poets sign up from 4pm.

Come along to perform or support the community's talent.

Performers

Calling all local poets! Bring your original poem, story, monologue or rap to the stage, with two minutes to wow the crowd.

Performers must be 12 years and older. Content may include adult themes or coarse language.

Registration opens on the night from 4pm.

Two poets chosen by the Manly Library audience will receive a prize and head to the State Final.

• 1st place: $100 voucher
• 2nd place: $50 voucher

Poets Australia wide are competing in heats and state finals leading up to one National Final at Sydney Opera House and a prize worth $20,000, including publishing opportunities and international gigs.

Audience

Don’t like the spotlight? Join the audience to cheer, snap and hold-up scorecards.

Yes, the audience judges. On the night a few judges will be randomly selected from the audience to give scores to the poets.

All ages are welcome. Parental supervision is required for children as content may include adult themes or coarse language.

The library is a safe, inclusive space and we expect the audience to model these same values in their attendance. Be respectful of the performers on stage and refrain from talking during the performances.
