This June a mural was installed in the Glen Street Library Amphitheatre. The mural by Studio Dennis, is called ‘Overlapping Botanicals’ and is based on the experience of walking along a bush trail early in the morning.

The completion of the mural is another element in the development of this outdoor space for the community.

A grant proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with The Northern Beaches Council, was secured to install a retractable roof with lighting making the space more suitable for use in various weather conditions.

This was followed in October 2021, by community consultation about how this outdoor space could be used. The great ideas received included;

  • Outdoor storytime sessions
  • Author talks
  • Buskers
  • Book Club meetings
  • A beehive
  • Community garden
  • Artwork
  • And many more

Many of the ideas suggested by members of the community have been implemented at Glen Street Library. The native beehive & gardens have been installed and a number of school holiday programs delivered including an interactive reptile talk.

The latest installation is The Street Art Mural which adds vibrancy to the amphitheatre space.
