With six stages across Taste of Manly and a wide range of music genres performing, there will be something for everyone.
Alex Mac is a surf enthusiast, and occasional Helicopter Dad, better known to some as Mac Daddy. In 2015, Sandstorm- Knight Horse gained huge support world wide and has been added to more than 10 compilations around the globe. It went high on the charts and was a huge success on the onelove label.
A blend of Roots, Reggae and Folk, wound together with captivating hooks, solid grooves and striking harmonies, resulting in the type of big-band reggae that throws everything at you from horns to percussion to tripped-out synths and delay-drenched keys. Relentless tourers, the band has spend the last four years travelling up and down the Australian East Coast - all the while writing their new album in the back of a van.
The Blue Riffs are a fresh, young group of musicians based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The band in recent months performed at various gigs, including the KALOF sponsored, Northern Beaches Composure Competition. The Pop, acoustic style of music they play, is inspired by various, unique covers by artists from Ed Sheeran to Stevie Wonder, as well as some sneaky originals from the band themselves!
The Manly locals will love the chilled vibe this band gives as their favourite tunes are being acoustically performed in the backstreets of Manly!
Wistful wordsmith and alt-country troubadour, Brett Winterford (Wilde's Meadow Band/Peregrine) is joined by old friend and brother in arms Felix Akurangi (Daddy Longlegs and the Swamp Donkeys/Greg Nunan and the General Jacksons/The solid Ones/ Peregrine), for a string of shows that look to breathe electric soul into Winterford's Wilde's Meadows workings.
Browntone are a Northern Beaches based Soul/R&B band known for putting their unique modern twist on old skool classics. Inspired by 90's anthems and artists, and with a repertoire that ranges from Lauryn Hill and Musiq Soulchild to Justin Timberlake and The Weekend, audiences will appreciate the fresh energy they offer to the live music scene in Manly and abroad.
Cairyn Jay is a a professional acoustic artist who loves sharing the joy of music with as many people as she can! She has performed at a multiplicity of venues and events from bars and restaurants, to weddings, festivals, markets, corporate events and much more. She has a folky, indie style that she likes to apply, not only to her own songs but also to her covers of other artists songs. Mellow tunes, jazz and soulful ballads is what she enjoys the most.
Hailing from the US, and growing up in Germany, now residing in Australia, multi-instrumentalist, Entrepreneur Craig "CC" Calhoun has been "Slappin de Bass" in the face of audiences across the USA, Europe, Australia and Asia. He has worked in music production and film, has opened shows for Santana, Joe Cocker and Kool & The Gang and worked with numerous Australian icons like Marcia Hines, Jimmy Barnes & John Farnham. Craig’s unique blend of styles include Blues, Soul, Funk, Rock and Improvised Groove.
DJ Somatik's approach is straightforward - an egoless passion, a fine-tuned ear and most important, an open mind with good taste. He has over two and a half decades of experience behind the decks, getting crowds onto their feet whether he plays Rave, Soul, Jazz, Balearic, Rare Groove, Disco or House.
New Zealand native, 34 year old Sydney based Duan & Only is making waves in the Australian music scene with his unique and soulful sound - "Gold & Honey" and "Oxytocin". Much of his inspiration is derived from Motown, Soul, Reggae and Dub plus acoustics and melodies from Duan's traditional Maori influences. His sultry voice lends a modern R&B tone and makes it almost impossible to assign his music to a genre.
Living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Ellis’ music influence comes from R&B, soul and singer songwriters such as Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, Cold Play, Stevie Wonder and 1975. He believes music has the power to bring people together and this is his intention as he creates his musical journey.
A musical assault that crosses over genres, deeply funky and seriously Phat. Their culturally diverse and influential style digs deeper and deeper in the pocket of groove and rock! Gang of brothers were born into music. Brothers Andro , Dauno, Fenix and Banel Martinez hail from the prestigious musical Martinez Family (Martinez Akustica). Joining them on drums and lead vocals is brother Buddy Siolo, whose talents have taken him around the globe. Together they are Gang Of Brothers.
Grace Brown is an emerging 20 year old singer/songwriter/guitarist from Sydney’s Northern Beaches. She has been a solo artist for the last 5-6 years and has lead her 5 piece band for the last year. She draws inspiration from artists such as Amy Winehouse, Anderson Paak, Hiatus Kaiyote, Jordan Rakei, 30/70, Lianna La Havas and many more. A gardener of funky delights of long standing, Graham has been in involved in the music industry in numerous capacities. DJ, Record Label owner, Promoter, Manager, ARIA judge, Music Consultant, Music Director, Journalist, Mentor, Booking Agent, Marketing & Promotions, Festival Director, Producer, Stage Manager, Event Co-ordinator, Radio Host and many other shapeshifting manifestations.
A voice and 6 strings; Haley Holgate is an up-and-coming pop singer/songwriter planning to take over the Northern Beaches (and the world) with her music. Her unique voice is guaranteed to impress, and she knows how to make every performance unforgettable. Haley is currently working on releasing her anticipated debut single.
Alfie and Max are both 16 years old and live on the Northern Beaches, they met at High School and have been performing together as a duo for 2 years now playing originals and covers with an acoustic blend of Indie/ rock. They are regular buskers in Manly and do gigs around Sydney. They recently came 2nd in the “Busking by the Beach” competition at the Narrabeen Sands.
Hiaground are a group of five mates whose passion for making music grew from backyard acoustic jams to their most recent sold out Oxford Arts show in April 2017. The band is made up of Jimmy, Kyle, Fernando and brothers, Pat and Liam.
Jimmy Breslin is a Manly local who has been busking regularly in the corso for the last couple of years. Melodic covers reinvented in his own style. Six string acoustic, voice and trusty loop pedal.
Psychedelic Summer Guitar Pop - The Kava Kings are your hot wet dream leaving you overwhelmed yet satisfied. These four delinquents have cut their teeth by hauling their van all over Australia and have recently expanded their overseas profile by touring Europe this year.
Formed in Sydney’s Inner West, Kool Vibration combines a mix of Roots, Reggae, Soca and all-round general island vibes. The addition of sega and seggae riddims of frontman Ras Jamino’s homeland of Mauritius, transports listeners to a different space, where life is carefree, relaxed and parties seem to never end. Audiences can’t help but catch their contagious riddims as they sit back and relax or get down and boogie, forgetting about the daily grind.
In the Maori language, Kotahi means ‘as one’ and our name represents our vision to ‘groove as one’.
A combination of hard work, great songs, a good vibe, a genuine vision, and a little bit of luck go a long way. Created in 2011 by two friends who were asked to do a few songs at a charity event, the band soon evolved from a duo into a six piece line-up.
With three lead vocalists producing exceptional harmonies and stunning vocal performances, the band has a wide musical range with musicians from diverse musical backgrounds such as R&B, Reggae and Motown right through to Blues, Classical, Soul, Country and Rock music. Together this creates a sound, style and vibe that is unique to Kotahi Groove.
Sydney brothers, Connor and Harry Lambrou have been making waves in the music industry for the last few years with their highly distinct blend of blues, soul, rock and Indigenous sounds. "LamBros" debut EP released to a sell out crowd at the Metro Theatre in late 2017, and the brothers have been entertaining audiences with their toe-tapping vibe and infectious passion at venues all across Australia.
With a fresh twist and mash up of old classics with new school sounds, Looped Up Kicks brings a full band in a duo package. Formed in 2013 after two musicians found themselves on opposite ends of the music spectrum, one rocker and one RnB show stopper, they quickly forged the two forces to create Looped up Kicks. It's been a favourite among the Manly crowd, music for all ages and is dynamic and ever-changing.
Mallie Music, is just two young musicians trying to gain experience and knowledge within a duet performance. We love putting our own twist on certain classic songs with influence from alternative musicians! Our sweet smooth sounding covers create a chilled vibe for crowds of all ages.
Three brothers (most likely from different mothers) maybe we met in Manly in 2012 on Sydney's Northern Beaches, maybe we met on Mars, maybe we met by a bin fire floating wayward on a raft between the North and South Islands of Aotearoa as the full moon kept us moving... Either way we three brothers met, and we met to make music to make you sway and dance and swing and sweat.
Marvell rock / blues roots / experimentalists have been kicking goals all over the place. Brothers Max and Tom Marvell co-front the genre bending group. Marvell delivers catchy melodies and strong hooks, leaving audiences wanting to see what's next for this "no boundaries" outfit.
Meg Mulcahy is one of the many talents originating from the upper Northern Beaches. Flowing out of the talent rich Barrenjoey High system, the singer guitarist is mentored by John Stone, the father of Angus and Julia. Meg’s easy going style sees her as a popular attraction at many of the venues around the beaches.
Nate Straker and Jake Harris
Nate Straker performs as a singer/songwriter locally with a mix of popular covers and original music. Based in Manly, he has toured New Zealand with The Swan Sisters and has composed songs and original scores for independent films in NZ and Australia. Nate is currently writing a debut EP as a member of indie/pop band Nightsolace.
Hard working and relentless determination are just two characteristics that can be attributed to Pat Capocci. Since forming nearly 10 years ago, Pat Capocci has emerged as one of Australia’s most respected practitioners of Rockabilly and Roots music. Pat’s unique style and charisma combined with his natural song writing ability has seen the combo transcend the typical novelty of the genre.
SA.MAY is an Electronic Producer/ Singer Songwriter based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Her sounds will give you that feel good vibe with a combination of future beats, a touch of instrumental Hip Hop, and down tempo Electronic.
Sexy Sunday Jam is a high energy band composed of a group of multi-instrumentalists; musically eclectic, extremely diverse in talent and musical backgrounds. More than just a band, it's a musical outfit - a collaboration with some of the finest musicians, singers and dancers in Australia. So What is a Northern Beaches band that started in the late 90s. Since then they have performed at many music venues around Sydney playing its own brand of rock and popular music. The band consists of Maxine and Louise on lead vocals, with Jeff on guitar, James on bass, Peter on keyboards and Pete on drums.
Deep Disco and Fun, that’s his genre. He may have made it up, he may have not. But be assured, his world is relentlessly in (musical) time. Constantly keeping the dance floors full, Stuart has played at all the key clubs and festivals across Sydney.
The Grouches are trying to push pop music in a different direction, by infusing Hip/Hop, Jazz, Soul and Funk into their songs. They are keen to get people up and dancing and having a good time, just wanting to get their music out there so they can perform for more people and hopefully get more people listening and liking their music.
Born and bred in Sydney’s Inner West, the Low Down Riders are a six piece band inspired by the musical gumbo that is New Orleans street music. Horns weave a raucous melody over the top of a rhythm section that chugs seamlessly like a steamboat down the Mississippi, with lyrics that tell tales of happiness and heartbreak in the true storytelling tradition of the south.
Hailing from the north of the Northern Beaches, The Rions are; vocals, Noah Blockley, drums Tom ‘Pardo’ Pardington, keys, guitar AND bass, Harley Wilson and Asher Mclean on guitar. At just 14 years young these guys play for the sheer love of it and are living for their music.

The Strides are a force for Reggae music in Australia and worldwide. This nine-piece have forged a truly global sound melding a diversity of cultures and instrumentation under the one universal consciousness. Fronted by roots man Ras Roni from Barbados via London, Fijian MC LTL GZeus and Sierra Leonian ragga powerhouse Blaka C, The Strides deliver a musical experience that is as powerfully explosive as it is authentic.
Thunder Fox is an eclectic explosion of psychedelic funk rock goodness that provides a barrage of shredding guitar solos, titillating vocalisation, tight horn lines and stank bass ‘n drum groove. Thunder Fox is catchy as it is unique while delivering an ecstatic live experience.
