Northern Beaches Council is looking for two Northern Beaches marathon runners to take part in the Senshu International City Marathon being held in Tadaoka (near Osaka, Japan) on 16 February, 2020.

Return airfares from Sydney to Osaka will be paid for by Tadaoka Town Government, along with the costs of accommodation for the two runners while in Japan.

The Senshu International Marathon is one of the major sporting events in Japan, with over 5,000 runners from across the country and overseas. It takes place in the southern part of Osaka Prefecture, passing through nine cities and four towns.

To be eligible to participate in the Senshu City Marathon, as a representative of the Northern Beaches area you must comply with the following criteria:

  • Be 18 years of age or over (school students are not eligible)
  • Be a resident of the Northern Beaches Council at the time of application and participation
  • Hold a current Australian passport
  • Have previously completed at least one full marathon with best time of 5 hours or under
  • Be in peak physical health (medical certificate required)
  • Be available to travel 13 to 18 February 2020
