The Inconvenience Store, by Marina DeBris, looks like a genuine convenience store with items that you might expect such as face masks, water bottles and balloons. But there is one difference. All the items in this store washed up on our beaches. The artist has cleverly packaged these items in materials sourced from rubbish bins or the street, to raise awareness of the inconvenience of these items for our marine life.

You can visit the Inconvenience Store as it travels across the Northern Beaches. The artwork will be a great conversation starter with friends and families. What items can you swap out for waste free alternatives? What types of littered items do you pick up?

The concept started as a tongue-and-cheek catalogue of all the items Marina DeBris found littered on the beach. In 2017, she brought the store concept to life at Sculptures by the Sea. Marina DeBris is also well known for her 'trashion' designed garments which also raise awareness of single-use plastics and the impact of disposable packaging.
