Manly Art Gallery & Museum, in conjunction with the MAG&M Society, are calling for expressions of interest from Northern Beaches artists to create new works for the exhibition Home Affairs. The exhibition is open to artists working in all media, including digital media, painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, sculpture, glass and ceramics, and is the eighth exhibition in the series.

In 2019, artists are invited to create new works in response to a theme of ‘home’.… home, homeland, homeless, home affairs, homing, home-grown, home owner, home-made, homewards … Artists are encouraged to explore the concept of home as; a place, an idea, a possibility, a refuge, a presence, a contested space, somewhere to escape to or from, a memory. Through art we can explore old meanings and create new ones to delve deeper into the social or political meaning of ‘home’.

The exhibition supports and connects this region’s contemporary artists with the gallery, providing a valuable opportunity to show their work, to challenge their art practice and to create a meaningful response to a theme and to connect with other artists.

Artists are required to submit the following items by Monday 6 May 2019;
- Concept sketches and written concept/artist’s statement about their proposed work which responds to the theme of ‘home’.
- Digital or printed Images of 2-5 finished works from their existing art practice for the Curator to reference.
- CV or bio
