Kick start your musical journey with local musicians from Evergreen Music for a free two-session online adult beginners guitar course as part of our Create at Home – Music program.

You can sling it over your shoulder and take it anywhere; a person with a guitar is like a walking jukebox! While this instrument requires some fine motor skills and dexterity to play, it's also one that you can launch straight into. You may find yourself playing some of the most famous guitar riffs in history quite quickly! Learn a couple of chords and unlock hundreds, if not thousands of potential pop / rock / folk songs to play.

Participants will learn

  • Technical skills: How to play the guitar, including hand / wrist position for fretting and strumming, posture, correct use of fingers and holding a pick
  • Musical Theory: At least one scale, open chords and their shapes, major and minor tonality
  • Repertoire: At least two pieces of contemporary music
