Changes to summer use of synthetic sportsfields

We are introducing a revised approach to how Council managed synthetic sportsfields are allocated during selected summer periods, starting from the 2026–27 summer season.

Council currently manages 7 synthetic sportsfields, with an eighth field at The Forest High School scheduled to become operational in 2026.

As demand for these facilities continues to grow it is critical these facilities are used to capacity, sustainably and deliver for the community.

What is changing

A more structured and strategic allocation approach has been developed for the 2026/2027 summer season.

An Expression of Interest (EOI) process was introduced for synthetic fields. Applications were assessed using a prioritisation framework that focuses on higher intensity use and overall community benefit.

Allocations

Following the EOI process, applications were assessed against the criteria and applicants have been notified of their allocation for the 206/27 season. Not all applicants were successful and some groups did not get the full allocation they applied for.

Turf field applications open shortly giving all applicants an opportunity to express interest in this next process for the summer season.
