We are proud of our inspirational MAG&M collection, entrusted to us by so many donors and artists since our foundation in 1930.

The MAG&M Collection

Our collection extends to over 6,000 items (too many to display). It includes around 350 ceramics, 1,000 watercolours, prints, etchings, drawings and paintings (mainly contemporary and early Australian works) and over 1,300 items of swimwear. Would you like to view a work that is not currently displayed? Just contact us.

How the Collection Has Been Created

It has been built thanks to the generosity of many donors who gifted collections, and artists who gifted their own and other works. Artists include MAG&M’s influential founder Antonio Dattilo-Rubbo, Margaret Preston, Thea Proctor, Will Ashton and Lloyd Rees.

Talks and Events

Come along and meet us in person. We love celebrating events, we love giving you the opportunity to gain more understanding of our current exhibitions, and we love introducing you to interesting and insightful artists and creative thinkers. Find details in our Events Calendar.

Thank You to Our Partners

The MAG&M does not work alone. We find inspiration and support across the arts, government and community sector in delivering our cultural program through a number of partners. Currently, these include the Eramboo Artist Environment, Q Station, Sydney Harbour Federation Trust and National Parks and Wildlife Service NSW.

Supporting Young Local Talent

As part of the annual ‘Express Yourself’ exhibition, MAG&M presents two youth art awards to two featured HSC students. These are the $3,000 MAG&M Society Youth Art Award and the $5,000 Theo Batten Youth Art Award, awarded to a student continuing tertiary study in the arts.
