
There are a number of long running events and programs that are held part of our Annual Youth Program.

Northern Composure Band Comp
The largest and longest-running youth band competition in the area and offers musicians local exposure as well as invaluable stage experience. The competition involves three rounds of heats during March, held at locations across the Northern Beaches, followed by the final in April as part of National Youth Week celebrations. With a total prize pool of over $10,000 up for grabs. Find out more

National Youth Week
Youth Week is an annual event, celebrating young people across Australia. What began as a NSW Government initiative in 1989 has grown into a celebration of young people in every state and territory. National Youth Week is organised by young people for young people. It provides an opportunity for you to share ideas, attend live events, have your voices heard on issues of concern to you and showcase your talents. Celebrate your contribution to the community and take part in competitions. Most of all, have fun!

24/7 Youth Film Festival
24/7 Youth Film Festival is a short film competition for young people aged 12 – 24 in which participants have just 24 hours to make a 7 minute short film. Participants will have the opportunity to develop, shoot and edit their own short films, which will be screened over two nights and battle it out to win thousands in prizes. Find out more.

Art Decko
ArtDecko showcases the creativity of young people on the Northern Beaches. It is a unique art competition where young people turn blank skate decks into personal pieces of artwork. They are exhibited alongside established and emerging artists and are in the running to win cool weekly prizes and a People's Choice Award. Find out more

Youth Exchange Brewarrina
Swap your ocean home for the outback in our beach to bush friendship program! Visit National Parks, shear a sheep, go to an outback radio station, see the opal mines at Lightning Ridge, learn about rural and Indigenous Culture and the 40,000-year-old Brewarrina fish traps. Find out more

Japan Student Exchange Program
For over 25 years Manly Council and now Northern Beaches Council have engaged with Odawara City Council in Japan to host an annual reciprocal language and cultural student exchange with Tokimeki International School in Odawara, Japan. 20 Northern Beaches students studying Japanese in year 8 or above get the chance to improve their Japanese language skills and learn firsthand about Japanese culture travelling to Odawara in September. Northern Composure Unplugged
This premier acoustic competition gives young acoustic musicians the opportunity to compete for cash, prizes and gain local exposure. Heats are usually held throughout November at locations across the Northern Beaches, with the Finals in early December. Find out more

Summer Skate Nights
Skaters come from across the Northern Beaches to get involved in weekly street style skate & scooter events and activations in the summer months. Skate nights are held across multiple skate parks throughout the Northern Beaches and can include coaching, lessons, demonstrations, food, live music, street art and competitions.
