Combine exploration with exercise! Leaving the car at home to take your bike does more than save money on fuel and parking. Here we introduce you to some of the more popular bike trails and tours.  For cycling enthusiasts and beginners we offer information and maps to get your wheels spinning. 

Narrabeen Lagoon Trail

Take a journey through beautiful ecosystems with an abundance of wildlife, cultural heritage and historical sites.

The Narrabeen Lagoon trail is an easy 8.4km loop on a well formed, shared track without steps. 

Manly Dam Loop

One of Sydney's best, Manly Dam’s 8.8km mountain bike track is enjoyed by beginners to advanced riders. Just a few kilometres from Manly CBD, Manly Dam is a favourite with locals for picnics and fishing and has all the necessary facilities. Check our map for the best bicycle access points.

Seaforth to Shelley Beach

Almost entirely off road, this is an 8km grand-tour of stunning scenery and waterside sculptures of aquatic animals and bird life. Finish your ride with a picnic at Shelly Beach. Park your bike and explore Cabbage Tree Bay Eco Sculpture Walk and the headland nature trail’s superb Northern Beaches views.

Manly Corso to North Head 

A steep start up Manly’s Darley Road, takes you past a grand neo-Gothic building that was originally St Patrick’s Seminary. Alternatively continue on the North Head Scenic Drive for panoramic views of the ocean, harbour and city from North Head. Explore a network of walking trails peppered with historic buildings.

Dobroyd Point

Starting at Bareena Drive, Balgowlah Heights, this family friendly dedicated bike lane around Tania Park offers uninterrupted views of the Sydney Heads and harbour. Take the steps to Crater Bay lookout with huts built on the rock ledge by weekend fishermen in the late 1920s.

Balgowlah Heights Scenic Tour  

This on-road ride links the Seaforth to Shelley Beach Bike Path to the scenic attractions of Dobroyd Heights and Tania Park in Balgowlah Heights. It utilises lightly trafficked streets avoiding undue hill climbing as much as possible.

The Spit to Manly Ocean Beach

This is a round trip of around 19km beginning at Spit Bridge in Seaforth. It takes you through Balgowlah, Fairlight and Manly Lagoon to arrive in Manly where you’re confronted with spectacular ocean views. Finish with a swim or enjoy a coffee watching surfers carve up the waves.
