Northern Beaches Council Mayor, Michael Regan stands on AFL field in front of new building.

Michael: So I'm here today at Balgowlah Oval to officially open the new amenities building.

I’m so excited for the Balgowlah Suns junior AFL club and their very enthusiastic players. It looks amazing.

The Suns players are aged between 5 and 16 years of age, and the club is growing. So it was time for the old toilet block to go and for a modern building with change rooms for boys and girls to take its place.

Now this building has separate, accessible public toilets as well which the whole community will benefit from.

And the coolest thing about this new building is that it was fabricated off site and then craned in. So that meant this one went up very quickly – which minimised the disruption to the community and to the club.

James: So anything that that provides active, healthy lifestyles for our young people in our community is something that’s to the benefit of the whole community. And these new facilities will allow players of the Balgowlah Suns from all age groups to really enjoy the sport they are playing and hopefully have more of them join throughout the future.

Michael Regan, James Griffin and Haydn Sheehan tour the facilities and kick the ball around with the players.

Haydn: It’s amazing! I got the keys and we walked in and I was blown away at the size, quality, and ultimately about what it means for the club and our growth moving forward.
