On 11 April Council held an Expo for residents with disability, their carers and families to meet organisations that provide options for their NDIS plan. Staff of the NDIS, the Local Area Coordination, Synapse Appeals and Ability Links answered queries, and special seminars covered planning, reviews and appeals. The booklet describes contact details, function and NDIS categories of the services attending the Expo. 


National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The purpose of the NDIS is to give people with disability right around Australia more choice and control over disability support services. It started its rollout on the Northern Beaches on 1 July 2016. If you’re eligible for the NDIS, you will receive funding on an annual basis to purchase the services, aids and equipment you require from the service providers of your choice. You can either self-manage your funds or have an organisation manage the funds for you.

The NDIS website is designed to help people living with disability around the country, as well as their families and carers, get ready for the NDIS and understand how it affects them. There’s a special section for NSW. It provides useful information including resources, latest news about the scheme, downloadable fact sheets and information on getting prepared.
