The 2019 Northern Beaches Young Writers' Competition is now open. Students in Kindergarten to Year 12 have until Wednesday 7 August to submit their story using this year's theme word, wild. Every year we have been so fortunate to have such talented and experienced writers judge the competition and this year is no exception.

Judging the Year 5 to 6 Category for 2019 is the wonderful Oliver Phommavanh. Oliver likes nothing better than to make people laugh, be it through his job as a stand-up comedian or through his numerous books. His stories are packed with so much humour but they also have a genuine heart as he writes about the authentic experience of living in a multicultural Australia. Alongside his best known titles, Thai-riffic!, Con-nerd and The Other Christy, he has two new titles named Don't Follow Vee and Natural Born Loser. With Oliver here, we know that the judging experience will be a blast!

We couldn't be more thrilled to have procured Oliver Phommavanh to judge the Year 5 to 6 category for 2019.
