The 2019 Northern Beaches Young Writers' Competition is now open. Students in Kindergarten to Year 12 have until Wednesday 7 August to submit their story using this year's theme word, wild. Every year we have been so fortunate to have such talented and experienced writers judge the competition and this year is no exception.

Judging the Year 7 to 8 Category is Nathan Luff, who moonlights as a scary clown and can't swim very well. But never fear, he writes books as well. Nathan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Theatre/Media) as well as a Graduate Diploma in Screenwriting from the Australian Film, Television & Radio School (AFTRS) and a Master of Teaching from the University of New England. Nathan has published books and plays, including Chicken Stu and Bad Grammar. He has also written a play based off the children's book Thai-riffic! which was written by one of our other Young Writers' Competition Judges, Oliver Phommavanh

We couldn't be more thrilled that Nathan is judging our Year 7 to 8 Category for 2019.
