Manly Library at lit up at night
Monday, 2 February 2026

Good news for book lovers, night owls and anyone who needs a quiet spot at odd hours – Manly Library has permanently thrown open its doors for 24/7 access!

This means you can pop in whenever it suits, whether it’s a late-night study session, an early morning hunt for your next novel or a quick dash to pick up resources after work.

The move to round-the-clock, unstaffed entry comes hot on the heels of our successful Forestville 24/7 Library operating since August 2022, and a successful community trial held at Manly between June and November last year.

Over 1,300 locals were involved, clocking up more than 20,000 visits in just 24 weeks. It was a real hit, especially during the busy HSC study period when students needed all the peace and quiet they could get.

This is all about making life easier and recognising that everyone’s schedule is a bit different these days. Whether you’re a parent wrangling kids and work, a student cramming for exams or just someone who likes a midnight browse, we’ve got you covered.

Access to Manly Library during unstaffed hours is available to Northern Beaches Library members who are over the age of 16 and have completed an on-site induction.
