About the competition
The Young Scriptwriters Competition is open to high school students (years 7-12) who live or go to school on the Northern Beaches.
Write a 10-minute original short play script based on the theme ‘Fake News’. Entries will be judged according to characterisation, originality, plot and innovative use of the theme ‘Fake News’. Six finalists will be chosen and will have the chance to have their scripts workshopped with a director and then performed at Glen Street Theatre on Wednesday 14 April.

Scriptwriters workshop with Tasnim Hossain
To help entrants develop their scripts the library has recorded has recorded a 5 part workshop with playwright, theatre director and screenwriter, Tasnim Hossain.
Important dates
Competition launches: Monday 18 January
Competition closes: Monday 8 March (entries must be submitted by 8pm)
Finalists announced: Monday 22 March
Finalists workshop their script with a director and actors at Glen Street Theatre: Wednesday 7 April
Performance and awards night: Wednesday 14 April
