Works underway

Project snapshot

Rowland Reserve and the surrounding area are home to boat ramps, picnic facilities, an off-leash dog exercise area, a storage area for larger boats such as outrigger canoes and dragon boats, and an amenities block.

The reserve is also home to Pittwater Sailability, providing sailing opportunities for people with a disability.

Following consultation with our community, we are undertaking the refurbishment of the existing public amenities building, to be followed by a new accessible toilet extension and a new disability changing room (Changing Places).

A temporary toilet building has been provided nearby for the convenience of the community during this period.

We anticipate all works to be completed in Autumn 2024.

Consultation history

As the amenities block at Rowland Reserve no longer meets community requirements or accessibility standards, we exhibited a proposal to upgrade the facilities. Features of the concept plans include a new disability changing room and a family changing room. These works are funded by the NSW Government’s Places to Swim program.

The concept plans were exhibited between Friday 19 May and Sunday 18 June 2023 - we received 32 responses.

Feedback indicated strong support for the proposal - 86% of respondents said they supported the proposal or supported it with changes. Some respondents made suggestions for other inclusions and design considerations. These were taken into consideration during the design development stage of the project. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.
