There is a diverse range of vegetation communities within the Northern Beaches, including some Endangered Ecological Communities, and Council is committed to protecting them. Find out about vegetation communities and what grows in each community. If the conditions are right, you may be able to replicate a micro local vegetation community in your garden.

What is a Vegetation Community?

A vegetation community is a group of plant species growing together in a particular set of growth conditions. Each community has a characteristic suite of plant growth forms and species.  Native Gardening details the location of vegetation communities and the plant species for each community - this is ideal if you’re planting local natives.
