Get a free, no-obligation quote from Solar power suppliers through Our Energy Future, a not for profit that exists to support the community in transitioning to a zero carbon energy future. This has been made possible by Northern Beaches Council’s membership subscription to Our Energy Future services. That is what Our Energy Future offers.

Install a battery to connect to solar power

Store the electricity your solar system produces, so you can use it even when you’re not generating it, like night time. New lithium-ion batteries are lighter, low maintenance and don’t emit hydrogen gas. Batteries aren’t suitable for every household, but if you’d like to avoid peak electricity prices check out more information at Our Energy Future.

Install a heat pump hot water system

Heat pump hot water systems run on electricity but are around three times more efficient than a conventional electric water heater. They sit on the ground so don't require roof space.

They make a low humming sound similar to an air conditioner which should be taken into account when deciding on their location.

  • Use much less electricity than conventional electric water heaters
  • Ground-mounted so no need for roof space or roof strengthening
  • Installation costs are generally cheaper compared to a solar water heater
  • Can operate in most climates but are most efficient in hot and humid conditions

Install a solar hot water system

Installing a solar hot water system is a great way of using the Northern Beaches plentiful supply of sun to heat water for your home. It can also significantly reduce your water heating costs. Depending on how much hot water you use, a solar hot water system can supply up to 90% of your hot water needs.
