Get a quote for solar power
Get a free, no-obligation quote from reliable solar power suppliers through the Australian Energy Foundation, a for purpose organisation that is leading the way to an equitable zero carbon society. This has been made possible by Northern Beaches Council’s membership subscription to their services. Some of the things holding people back from taking action are a lack of information, good quality advice and trust in the products and services available in the market. That is what the Australian Energy Foundation offers.
Install a battery to connect to solar power
Store the electricity your solar system produces, so you can use it even when you’re not generating it, like night time. New lithium-ion batteries are lighter, low maintenance and don’t emit hydrogen gas. Batteries aren’t suitable for every household, but if you’d like to avoid peak electricity prices check out more information from the Australian Energy Foundation.
Install a heat pump hot water system
Heat pump hot water systems run on electricity but are around three times more efficient than a conventional electric water heater. They sit on the ground so don't require roof space.
They make a low humming sound similar to an air conditioner which should be taken into account when deciding on their location.
- Use much less electricity than conventional electric water heaters
- Ground-mounted so no need for roof space or roof strengthening
- Installation costs are generally cheaper compared to a solar water heater
- Can operate in most climates but are most efficient in hot and humid conditions
